The Amazon River carries more water than any other river

The Amazon accounts for roughly twenty per cent of the total discharge of all rivers on Earth into the oceans.

Flowing through South America into the Atlantic Ocean, the Amazon discharges more water than the next seven largest rivers combined. During the wet season, the river can expand to over 190 kilometres in width in certain sections. Its vast drainage basin supports the world's largest tropical rainforest.
