Voyager 2 is the only spacecraft to visit both Uranus and Neptune
A planetary alignment enabled a close-range flyby tour of four gas giants
Launched in 1977, Voyager 2 took advantage of a rare alignment of outer planets occurring once every 175 years. It completed close flybys of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, remaining the only human probe to ever provide close-up images and atmospheric measurements of Uranus and Neptune.
