The reticulated python is the longest snake in the world

The longest measured specimens exceed six metres

Reticulated pythons from South East Asia regularly pass four metres, and the longest reliably measured reached 6.95 metres. They are constrictors rather than venomous, killing prey by squeezing until circulation stops. The heaviest snakes are green anacondas, so length and mass crown different species.
