Lake Victoria is the largest tropical lake in the world
Covering nearly 60,000 square kilometres, Lake Victoria is shared by Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya.
Lake Victoria is the chief reservoir of the Nile River, emptying northwards into the Victoria Nile. Despite its large surface area, the lake is relatively shallow, with a maximum depth of only eighty-four metres. Over-fishing and invasive species like the Nile perch have altered its native aquatic ecosystem over recent decades.
