Point Roberts is a US land exclave reachable only through Canada
Situated at the tip of the Tsawwassen Peninsula, Point Roberts is cut off from the US mainland by the 49th parallel.
When the Oregon Treaty of 1846 established the 49th parallel as the international boundary, it severed Point Roberts from Washington State. Because no direct US road connects to the exclave, residents must drive through twenty-five kilometres of Canadian territory to reach the rest of their nation. It remains a tranquil community surrounded by water on three sides.
