Sweden has more islands than any other country

Around 268,000 islands sit within its borders, most of them tiny

Swedish statistics count roughly 268,000 islands, the great majority of them uninhabited skerries along the Baltic coast. Finland and Norway follow, and all three are shaped by post-glacial rebound, which keeps raising land that was pressed down by ice sheets. Canada has more coastline but far fewer counted islands.
