The Sargasso Sea is the only sea bounded entirely by ocean currents

Located in the North Atlantic Ocean, the Sargasso Sea has no land coastlines forming its boundaries.

The sea is defined by four circulating ocean currents that form the North Atlantic Gyre. It is famous for calm blue waters and floating mats of Sargassum seaweed, which provide vital nursery habitats for young sea turtles and marine life. European and American eels travel thousands of kilometres across oceans to spawn in its waters.
